Round 1 – Mold Alun School

Mold Alun School is once again our season opener and the first race of the 2017 NWCX League. This is usually a fast flowing course comprising playing fields and woodland single track. It is a great start to the new season but has the potential to be muddy if it rains in the lead up.

Parking instructions: Avoid the (busy) Leisure Centre swimming pool area. Instead follow the access road between the football courts on the left and the school buildings. Go to the rear of the school. Park on the tarmac beneath the grass banking. Competitors are asked not to drive up the (narrow) access road to Trebeirdd Farm Reclaimation Yard.
This blocks customer access and generates complaints.

Please come early as race numbers will issued at the Race HQ gazebo erected on the football field approximately 200m above the car park. This can be reached by bike or on foot. Most spectators will assemble near HQ for the race start.

Timings:
10:00 race HQ opens
11:00 racer registration closes for on the day entries
11.30 race sign-on closes for ALL categories

11.30 Fun race: anyone under 8 who wants to have a go

12:00 U8,U10,U12 20mins – Entry Fee £2 on-line or £5 on the day

12:30 U14, U16 30mins – Entry Fee £4 on-line or £7 on the day

13.15 Senior race (M/F, Vets, U18s) 60mins  Entry Fee U18 £7 on-line or £10 on the day / Adults £12 or £15 on the day

(Vets will be classified V40,V50, V60+ subject to participant numbers, Male & Female)

Warning: The first races of the year are busy so please arrive early to collect your number. For subsequent races, sign-one will close half and hour before the race for pre-entered riders.

Newcomers regardless of age, gender or ability are welcome. You can race on a cyclocross bike or a mountain bike. If unsure about details please inform Race HQ and one of the support team will give advice.

Parents: there are more children racing cyclocross each season. If unsure don’t be afraid to ask. We make it easy for children, especially newcomers. Many of our beginners make rapid progress. Some graduate to national championship racing within a season or two.

Competitors please retain your race numbers. This stays with you for the season so keep it safe between races. Replacement numbers will be charged at £3 per set.
