NWCX League 2024 Round 4 Alyn Waters Country Park Wrexham LL11 4NG
Sunday 3rd November 2024
Fibrax Wrexham Roads Club welcomes the League to Alyn Waters Country Park for Round 5 . Alyn Waters is a 400 acre country park in the County Borough of Wrexham. It is located between the villages of Gwersyllt and Llay and takes its name from the Afon Alyn flowing through. This is the oldest surviving fixture in the calendar. There’s plenty to challenge competitors. If dry, Alyn Waters will be fast and free flowing. If wet, this race has long slippery stretches of woodland track and field sections that were once the muddiest in the calendar. In recent years organisers have opted for the firmer Ysgol Bro Alun playing field. Expect some grassy descents and a tale of two halves: a Country Park section of woodland and school playing fields section that forms a natural amphitheatre. Alyn Waters is unique in that spectators can view nearly 50% of each lap. No other venue offers such a panoramic view of the action.
Sign-on will take place on the school playing field.
Competitors and families please leave your dogs at home if possible.
Parking. There is ample parking in the School Car Park. For competitors parking at the roadside: please ensure child safety at all times. Parents are to avoid their children riding until within the safety perimeter of the compound.
As in previous years Fibrax Wrexham RC has arranged WC access for the duration of the event at Gwersyllt Cricket Club adjacent to Ysgol Bro Alun car park. Please treat all facilities with respect.
We are grateful to the Wardens of Alyn Waters Country Park and the Head Teacher & Governors of Ysgol Bro Alun

In the event of bad weather cancellation or other disruption, NWCXG reserves the right to make Round 10 a qualifying round.

NWCX welcomes ALL riders regardless of age, gender or ability. We expect respect and good manners at all times. You can race on a cyclocross, gravel or mountain bike. You can try the beginners race for 30mins.
New riders are very welcome at cyclocross races. If unsure don’t be afraid to ask at HQ. The North Wales series prioritises racing for children with most making rapid progress over the course of a season.
Single frameset rule: to limit costs and entry barriers NWCX operates a single frameset rule. You must use the bike you start with. No spare bikes permitted once race underway.
Knobbly tyres rule: cyclocross takes place on grass, mud and gravel surfaces. It is essential for competitor safety that competitors fit knobbly tyres. Riders with inappropriate tyres will be asked to withdraw. This applies equally to children.
Competitors retain race numbers for their body and handlebars. Numbers are issued to competitors at their first registration. Riders are instructed to retain and re-use their numbers all season to simplify registration. Please keep your number safe between races. Replacement numbers will be charged £5 per set.
Return of timing chips. Competitors hand back their race chips at the finish. Each chip cost NWCX £38+vat. You will be billed if you fail to return your chip immediately post-race.
