Round 1 of the 2024/25 North Wales Cyclocross League: Mold Leisure Centre
Sunday 29th September 2024
We are the guests of Aura Wales Leisure for the launch of the 2024 season.
This fast flowing course sweeps over playing fields and features two lengthy sections of woodland single track. It is usually a fast paced race but has the potential to be muddy following heavy rain.
Parking instructions: avoid the Leisure Centre entrance area and instead park to the rear of the school buildings where gates will be open for NWCX visitors. Park on the tarmac beneath the grass banking. Competitors are asked not to drive up the access road to Trebeirdd Farm Reclamation Yard as this blocks customer access and generates complaints.
Mold will be the first registration of Chips & Race Number
Please arrive early for Round 1 and allow sufficient time for collecting race numbers and chips. Riders are to retain their body number & bike number all season. Riders are required to affix a forward facing bike numbers on their handlebars. Riders who lose their numbers will be issued a marker pen replacement.
Race HQ gazebo will be erected on the football field approximately 200metres above the car park. This can be reached by bike or on foot. Most spectators assemble on the upper playing fields to watch the race start.

NWCX welcomes ALL riders regardless of age, gender or ability. We expect respect and good manners at all times. You can race on a cyclocross, gravel or mountain bike. You can try the beginners race for 30mins.
New riders are very welcome at cyclocross races. If unsure don’t be afraid to ask at HQ. The North Wales series prioritises racing for children with most making rapid progress over the course of a season.
Single frameset rule: to limit costs and entry barriers NWCX operates a single frameset rule. You must use the bike you start with. No spare bikes permitted once race underway.
Knobbly tyres rule: cyclocross takes place on grass, mud and gravel surfaces. It is essential for competitor safety that competitors fit knobbly tyres. Riders with inappropriate tyres will be asked to withdraw. This applies equally to children.
Competitors retain race numbers for their body and handlebars. Numbers are issued to competitors at their first registration. Riders are instructed to retain and re-use their numbers all season to simplify registration. Please keep your number safe between races. Replacement numbers will be charged £5 per set.
Return of timing chips. Competitors hand back their race chips at the finish. Each chip cost NWCX £38+vat. You will be billed if you fail to return your chip immediately post-race.
